165 Dead in Two Plane Crashes Within a Week

 

 

At least 165 people have died in plane crashes within the past week, as two major incidents have left families grieving during the final days of the year.

Earlier today In South Korea, 127 people died when a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crashed while landing at Muan Airport.

The flight, carrying 181 passengers from Bangkok, Thailand, veered off the runway, hit a wall, and caught fire.

According to reports, the National Fire Agency confirmed the death toll, which includes 57 women, 54 men, and 13 others whose genders were not identified. Two crew members were rescued and hospitalized.

This is the deadliest aviation accident in South Korea’s history and the first fatal crash for Jeju Air since its founding nearly 20 years ago.

Just days earlier, on Christmas Day 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines flight crashed in Kazakhstan, killing 38 people.

Reports indicate the aircraft was hit by a missile during drone activity over Grozny, causing shrapnel to damage the cabin mid-flight.

The total death toll from both crashes stands at 165, marking a sad end to the year for the victims and their families.
