Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been denied bail by a Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State following his arraignment on multiple criminal charges stemming from an altercation with one of his baby mamas.
Portable was taken into police custody after actress and social media personality Omobolarinde Akinyanju, widely known as Ashabi Simple, reportedly filed a complaint against him alleging that he assaulted her at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area on New Year’s Day.
A video of the singer in handcuffs and visibly distressed circulated online ahead of his court appearance, drawing widespread attention.
At his arraignment on January 12, 2026, Portable faced charges that include assault, resisting arrest and other related offences.
The prosecution also named other individuals, including police officers, as alleged victims in the incident.
When Portable’s legal team applied for bail during the hearing, the judge refused to grant the request. The presiding judge said the bail application could not proceed in the absence of a police officer who was allegedly assaulted, a key witness required for the court’s consideration.
As a result, Portable was remanded in custody, with the bail hearing adjourned to January 19, 2026.
The Ogun State Police Command has also launched an investigation into a separate viral video that appeared to show the singer being mistreated while in custody.
