It Is Risky To Stage One Lagos Fiesta In Owutu, Ikorodu- Stakeholder Reveals

The President of Never Say Never Foundation, Princess Aderoju Ladega, popularly referred to as Kiniun Ikorodu has reacted to the choice of venue for the 2017 edition of One Lagos Music Fiesta in Ikorodu Division, a Primary School, as insecure and not proper.

In a statement made available to BlackBox Nigeria, the philantropist disclosed that the organisers should have picked another location, but not a Primary school. She disclosed that a stakeholders meeting was not held to get suggestions from residents.

Findings by BBN revealed that the previous editions of the Music Fiesta hosted by the State Government was held at the popular Ikorodu Town Hall, which have been adjudged to be central to all. The Fiesta like Carnival is an innovation of the State Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture. It is usually staged simultaneously in several locations around the State during the festive season.

In preparation for this year’s edition, the Ministry had announced the Cherubim & Seraphim Primary School/ Government Model College, Owutu, Ikorodu for the Ikorodu version which residents are kicking against.

Princess Ladega’s reaction is coming on the heels of outcry by residents who have also been clamouring for a change of the proposed new venue. She added that the State Government needs to consider the mammoth crowd that will converge for the Fiesta and not stage it in a school premises as properties of studies are prone to damages during the the festival if held in the venue.

She also urged the Acting-Commissioner of the Ministry, who coincidentally is an indigene of Igbogbo town, Ikorodu to use her depth analysis of the Division to change the proposed school to another befitting venue for the Fiesta.
