As the May 29 hand over date drags near, activities have already begun in top gear in relation to succession of outgoing Governors across the country.

In South West Nigeria, out of the six states, three states will be changing Governors come May. They are Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states while the remaining three states of Ondo, Osun and Ekiti have subsisting state executives due to the difference in electoral calendar.

In Lagos, a former commissioner in the state and immediate head of the state property company, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will be replacing Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the Alausa Government House by May 29. His deputy, Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat is also a former commissioner in the state.

In Ogun, Governor Ibikunle Amosu’s replacement come in the person of his former ally, Dapo Abiodun who unsuccessfully ran for senate in the state in 2015. His deputy is Noimot Salako-Oyedele, a property consultant.

In 2015, Seyi Makinde failed in his quest to govern Oyo State under the flagship of the Social Democratic Party, SDP. By May 29, he will be succeeding outgoing Governor Abiola Isiaka Ajimobi at the Agodi governments house in Ibadan. Like Seyi Makinde, his deputy, Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan is also an engineer by academic training.
