By The National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) University of Lagos branch is set to have its celebration of Lagos @ 50 with sporting activities.
The sporting activities tagged IBILE Unity Games 2.0 is set to kick off on Wednesday, July 12th.
In its statement made available to BlackBox Nigeria, the student body averred that the overall importance of sports in modern day society cannot be undermined. It stated that aside the enormous wealth and fame enjoyed by sportsmen all around the world,the benefits of sports to well-being, unity and team playing spirit cannot be over looked.
“As a matter of proven fact sports like football,Athletics and Cycling plays a greater role in our good living as it keeps us wealthy, healthy and active ,these qualities we understand are imperative for great achievement.
Furthermore,we intend polishing the already built rich and flourishing history of excellent sports men in Lagos State,this we understand can best be achieved through a coordinated inter- divisional sport festival where we have true indigenes coming to showcase their sporting prowess among other ideals Lagos Students stand for.
More than ever before we have designed a whole week of exclusive sporting activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of our dear state and most importantly harness the resources in them thereby releasing new sets of talented sportsmen and worthy ambassadors of the state into the larger society.”
The two days event is scheduled to have sporting activities including Football, track/field event, Chess/Scrabble, Table Tennis, Play Station and also IBILE quiz.
The Planning Committee urged all members of the body to cooperate with appointed representatives who have been appointed to coordinate with the participants and also help the tem by complying with stipulated fees for payment.
The Team stated that they wish to use the medium of Sports to foster unity among all residents in the State.
