May Day 2017: Aso Rock Silent Over Worker’s Day Celebration, Rally At Eagles Square Disrupted

News reaching BlackBox Nigeria at this moment confirms that the nation’s Seat of Power, Aso Rock Villa is currently silent over the 2017 May Day Celebration as no speech has been released by the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Checks by BBN also revealed that the Presidential spokespersons; Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina are also yet to speak to the press concerning the Worker’s Day celebration.

It will be recalled that President Buhari since he returned from his medical vacation in London have not been present at official functions but always represented.

Despite been absent at FEC meetings, the President has been a regular at the central mosque in Aso Rock until last Friday, April 28th.

His absence on Friday came as a development following a report by Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed that Buhari desired to start working from his official residence in the Villa.

In another development, planned rally at the Eagle’s Square, Abuja has been disrupted by workers who were chanting “We no go gree!”.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the workers had been calm until the arrival of senior government officials and representatives of the Labour Minister, Dr Chris Ngige who was absent.

Items such as cans, plastics of bottled water and others were pelted at the officials despite security presence.

Reports has it that the FG is yet to pay April’s salary, a development that was not welcomed by many of the civil servants.

As at the time of filing this report, security vans and Police officers have taken over the Square which is the normal occasion for such activities in the Federal Capital Territory.
