The National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria’s apex body in charge of overseeing university education has approved the unbundling of Mass Communication as a course of study in the country’s citadels of higher learning.

Whether as a faculty of Arts or Social Science endeavour, the programme currently known as Mass Communication will now be splinter into seven degree awarding programmes.

These are;

  1. Journalism and Media Studies
  2. Public Relations
  3. Advertising
  4. Broadcasting
  5. Film and Multi-Media Studies
  6. Development Communications Studies
  7. Information & Media Studies
