Mass Communication phased out as a Nigerian university course by NUC

Mass Communication will now seize to be a course of study in Nigerian universities

The National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria’s apex body in charge of overseeing university education has approved the unbundling of Mass Communication as a course of study in the country’s citadels of higher learning.

As gathered by BlackBox Nigeria, Mass Communication will seize to be an academic programme while in its place, seven programs will be awarded.

Whether as a faculty of Arts or Social Science endeavour, the programme currently known as Mass Communication will now be splinter into seven degree awarding programmes.

These are;

  1. Journalism and Media Studies
  2. Public Relations
  3. Advertising
  4. Broadcasting
  5. Film and Multi-Media Studies
  6. Development Communications Studies
  7. Information & Media Studies
