LASU Vice Chancellor Host Student Leaders, Discusses Hostel Proposal As Foundation Is Set To Be Laid

Friday, 3rd of March marked another great day in the history of Lagos State University as the amiable Vice Chancellor, Professor Lanre Fagbohun hosted some students and briefed them about a proposed 6,000 capacity student accommodation.

At the meeting held in his office, the VC made it known that the students welfare was top of his priority. He disclosed that the foundation of the first phase of the hostel will be laid soon.

With regards to the latter, the Juggernaut of Environmental Law provided the students with the rare opportunity of going through the building plan. It was gathered that the proposed hostel will have some personal features for each students. Features like, bathroom, toilet and cubicle. Prof Faghohun noted that it was going to be very affordable for all.

Foundation to the proposed hostel is to be laid by the Citadel of Learning’s Visitor, Governor Akinwunmi Oladapo Ambode on the 24th of March, 2017. This will see to the commencement of the project planned to last for a period of 15months

Current Students’ Union President, Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel led Executive Members of the Union. In the team with him were, Ogwogho Ohis Jubril, General Secretary; Faleye Adedoyin, Welfare Director; immediate past Chairman of LASUSU Independent Electoral Commission, Oluwatobi Idowu; immediate past LASULAWs Gen Secretary, Timi Ojo; a member of the Student Parliament, Hon Ayodeji Eluwade and Pelumi Olugbenga (Ambode of LASU).

It was a fruitful and fun filled meeting as the Student Leaders were updated on the progress made by the University most especially in terms of attracting confidence through investments from the private sector.

The University Management and Students’ Union representatives are billed to meet again on Monday at a meeting tagged Monthly Breakfast. While discussions on the welfare of the students are main objectives of the meeting, a date will also be fixed for the next Town Hall Meeting.

The Town hall meeting has been imbibed into the current administration of Professor Fagbohun. It provides an avenue for all students to bare their minds on happenings in and around the campus, development that will forestall unity among all stakeholders and see an end to taking to the streets in protest.

The Vice Chancellor once again reiterated to his commitment to always be inclusive in all his decision in the management so as to always maintain peace and sincerity of purpose and prosperity.
