The Lagos State University has denounced the studentship of one time President of Lagos State University Student Union, Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf (a.k. a. Optimist) who graduated from the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University with matriculation number 100412010 in the year 2016.

In an official bulletin released on August 30, 2017, the University disclaimed the studentship of the Union Leader who is making efforts to contest as South West Coordinator of National Association Nigerian Students and also alleged that all documents Nurudeen presented for the election were forged.

“The attention of the Lagos State University Management has been drawn to the persistent claim both in official documents and on social media by one of our former student, Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf that he is currently a registered student of LASU. For the avoidance of doubt, the University hereby states categorically that Mr. Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf otherwise known as Mr. Nurudeen, Yusuf Temilola (a. k. a. Optimist) is not our student. He is currently not registered on any academic programme in the Lagos State University, be it Full-Time, Part-Time, Sandwich, Pre-Degree or Postgraduate, ” the University management wrote in the bulletin.

It will be recalled that Nurudeen lead the struggle for the reversal of the LASU 250, 000 school fees struggle through the #SaveLASU movement.

In his reaction to the allegation via a LASU ex-students whatsapp group,  Nurudeen said that the allegations contained in the write up are untrue.

“The truth of the matter is that I intended to contest for the office of the COORDINATOR, NANS ZONE D (South-West) for *REASONS* Best known to me. To fulfill the constitutional requirements so I decided to apply for the Sandwich Degree Programme. To confirm my studentship, follow these steps:
1. log on to www.lasu.edu.ng
2. click on student services
3. Scroll down and click on Pre-studentship Application and select Sandwich Application
4.Then, type my registration number: *SW241501244879*

“Or follow this link: http://stu; dentservices.lasu.edu.ng/sw_application/newstudents/ and type the registration number: SW241501244879.

“I submitted my Aspirant form for ZONE D election duly signed and stamped by the Assistant Director, THE DIRECTORATE OF SANDWICH DEGREE PROGRAMME. The form that was paraded was the wrong form. Though singed by me, but it was submitted to for the purpose of the election. The form I submitted is hereby attached. After the form signed and stamped by the Assistant Director, he issued a letter to further confirm my studentship. The DSS and Comr. Okiki Ogunsola called the AD for Confirmation, ” he noted.

Nurudeen said he did not lay claim to any matriculation number that is not his and that the events that unfolded before the election are just diversionary tactics by the political big wigs of NANS to stop him from contesting the election having seen the level of support that he has received from within and outside Lagos.

“To state the obvious fact once again, I have not committed any crime. And if any one asserts to the contrary, such must come out to prove beyond any iota of doubt, ” Nurudeen wrote in the post obtained by BlackBox Nigeria.

DETAILS OF BULLETIN OF 30TH AUGUST, 2017.

DISCLAIMER: NURUDEEN, TEMILOLA YUSUF (A. K. A. OPTIMIST) IS NOT A STUDENT OF THE LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY

The attention of the Lagos State University Management has been drawn to the persistent claim both in official documents and on social media by one of our former student, Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf that he is currently a registered student of LASU. For the avoidance of doubt, the University hereby states categorically that Mr. Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf otherwise known as Mr. Nurudeen, Yusuf Temilola (a. k. a. Optimist) is not our student. He is currently not registered on any academic programme in the Lagos State University, be it Full-Time, Part-Time, Sandwich, Pre-Degree or Postgraduate.

Mr. Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf graduated from the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University with matriculation number 100412010 in the year 2016. He recently concluded his Law School Programme at the Lagos Law School.

Prior to his graduation from the University, Nurudeen, Yusuf Temilola was the 24th LASUSU President of the Lagos State University.

On 16th August, 2017, the South West Coordinator of NANS forwarded the Aspirant’s Form of Nurudeen, Yusuf Temilola to the Acting Dean of Students through an email for enquiry on the student status of the applicant for the position of NANS Coordinator.

However, on 21st August, 2017, Nurudeen brought to the Acting Dean of Students for his endorsement, an Aspirant’s Form different from the one earlier submitted to NANS.

Also, on 21st August, 2017, NANS Investigation Team visited the Acting Dean of Students with a letter requesting for confirmation of studentship of the aspirant. The letter was replied via a letter dated 22nd August, 2017 via email and Whatsapp.

While the Acting Dean of Students had refused to sign the Aspirant Form based on the above information, on 24th August, 2017, a Letter of Confirmation of Studentship of Mr. Nurudeen Yusuf Temilola with Registration Number: SW241501244879 endorsed by Dr. N. A. Setonji was forwarded to the Coordinator, NANS Zone D.

Furthermore, on 25th August, 2017, Nurudeen posted a campaign broadcast in furtherance of his aspiration.

However, from the foregoing, the following were observed:
Nurudeen, Yusuf Temilola in his Aspirants’ Form claimed that he is a 100 Level student in
Political Science Education (Sandwich Degree Programme) with matriculation number
1601210022, a claim that was confirmed to be FALSE.
His form was signed by Dr. Setonji Noel (Academic staff at the Faculty of Education and
Assistant Director, Sandwich) as his Head of Department.
The two (2) forms contained two (2) different Departments (Political Science Education and
Political Science) and matriculation numbers (1601210022 and SW241501244879) for same person. This suggests that the information in neither of the forms were correct as no student can have two (2) matriculation numbers in one University.
The last three (3) observations confirm the facts earlier stated that Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf is NOT A STUDENT of the Lagos State University as claimed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf ‘s social media platform war on LASU Management and staffer has assumed a more frenzied dimension, even after his attention was drawn to the illegality of his action as per the presentation of false information in official documents and the danger such poses to his future career development. Mr. Nurudeen, Temilola Yusuf’s description of the University Management and functionaries in unprintable words is, to say the least, most unbecoming of someone who was once a Students’ Union President in our esteemed University and is a budding lawyer.

Management is no doubt committed to the on-going transformation of LASU and will be ready at all time to support the upward mobility of our students and alumni be it as individuals or as a collective. However, Management will not condone a situation in which unscrupulous elements undermine the institution by making LASU a staging post for all forms of petty intrigue, inordinate ambition, moral turpitude and outright rascality.
