GTB Principals Cup 2018: Eko Boys’ Books Semi Final Ticket

Eko boys on Friday showed st Joseph the reason why poeple refer to them as the giant of mushin by defeating them 1 – 0 is a fiercely contested quarter final game at Ilupeju Secondary school.

The first match started at exactly 1pm with the female sides of oduduwa secondary school and their counterparts from host school Ilupeju senior secondary school (Ilusec) locking horns for a place in the next round of the tournament.

However the ILUSEC girls also prove that they have got what it takes to remain in the competition. The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the ILUSEC girls, they didn’t stop there, they went on to add two more goals in the second half to take their goal tally to 4-0.

Now it was time for the match everybody was waiting for. A quarter final duel between  Eko boys and Saint Joseph. The first half was very tough though the Ekorians dominated both the ball possession and shot on target but they were not able to find the back of the net. The first ended in a stalemate with both teams falling to break the deadlock.

Goalkeeper, Babatunde John made a lot of breathtaking saves to prevent the wine and yellow boys from going in front. The game had to wait for a final minute drama as the Ekorians finally broke the deadlock after defensive midfielder Ishola Bashiru fire in a loose ball in the 18 yard box.
After the match the team captain Enogun Solomon and Ishola Bashiru were named man of the match.
