Former Governor David Ejoor Does At 87

Former Military Governor of the defunct Mid-Western Region of Nigeria Major General David Ejoor (Rtd) is dead.

Confirming his death, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta expressed sadness over the demise of the retired Major-General.

Mr Okowa in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, on Sunday in Asaba, condoled with the family, the Urhobo nation and the people of Ovwor-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area over the death of the former COAS.

Mr Okowa added that the news of Mr Ejoor’s death had devastated him, especially as the nation is going into another round of elections but was consoled by the fact that the departed former Chief of Army Staff would remain immortal and never to be forgotten.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that Gen Ejoor, who was also one-time Chief of Army Staff (COAS) died around 6:00pm on Sunday, in a Lagos hospital.

A reliable source from the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), the late retired army general’s ethnic nationality, told The Nation that Ejoor died after a prolonged illness.

He was officially recorded to have lived to the age of 87 years, having been born in Ovu community in present day Ethiope East council area of Delta state on January 10, 1932.

He was the first indigenous Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) between 1969 and 1971 after he served as the Military Governor of the Mid-Western state of the country between January 1966 to August 1967.
