Centre For Democracy And Dev Set To Hold 2nd Edition Of ‘BuhariMeter’ Town Hall Meeting

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) is set to hold the second edition of the BuhariMeter Town hall Meeting in Abuja. The meeting is been organised in order to match the campaign promises with public expectations and eventual deliveries of the government of the day.

The meeting, which was flagged off lasy year is billed at weighing in on the activities of the Federal Government-led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The second edition is themed: The State of Security and Economy in Nigeria; Assessing President Muhammadu Buhari’s Policies and Programmes in the laste Two Years.

In a statement signed by the CDD’s Director, Mrs Idayat Hassan and made available to BlackBox Nigeria, it was stated that it was important for the Cente to create an avenue for the representatives of the present administration to give account of their stewardship as they mark their second year in office.

Among those billed to be present at the meeting are Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN; Agriculture Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh; Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun; Mines and Steel Minister, Dr Kayode Fayemi and Defence Minister, Monsur Muhammed Dan Ali.

Mrs Hassan said, “Economic recession, increasing inflationary, unemployment and poverty rates, renewed Boko Haram attacks, kidnapping, and separationist agitations in the country make it imperative to discuss what government is doing to addressing these challenges. Therefore, the town hall meeting will create platform for robust discussion on the state of Nigeria’s economy and security between government representatives and Nigerians.

“In addition, it will allow Nigerians and their representatives to explore potential solutions to the current economic and security challenges, and discuss practical steps needed to ensure that progress will be made in pursuing those solutions.”

The Town Hall Meeting is being organised by the CDD in partnership with OAK TV, Premium Times, Amplified Radio, Connected Development (CODE) and Youth Initiative Advocacy, Growth and Advancement (YIAGA).

It is set to hold on Thursday, July 13th at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Wuse 2, Abuja by 10am.
