At a time that the culture of critical music seems to have died, an old timer, Daniel Wilson, has taken on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The way the likes of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and Kollington Ayinla used to tackle rulers in their music, Wilson has released a song titled Never Again, in which he seeks to revolutionise Nigerians.
Wilson, who was popular in the 1990s, describes the All Progressive’s Congress’ change philosophy as a sham.
He notes in a statement on the song, “My wish is to revolutionise the political terrain in Nigeria through the use of pop culture, music and other forms of the art, strengthening a political awareness among our young people, getting them to better understand what is wrong with our country, helping them to develop a vision for a much better country for a progressive change in our country, not this sham they call change.”
