Sanwo-Olu’s account managed by members of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organisation (BOSCO) was suspended according to inside sources because there were complaints about the activities of the account.

It will be recalled Babajide Sanwo-Olu contested and won the gubernatorial primaries under the APC against incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode in October 2018, but there have been internal wrangling about who should control the social media handles of the likely next governor of Lagos State.

According to Twitter, the two common reasons for suspension of a twitter account are when it is Spam or fake. “Most of the accounts we suspend are suspended because they are spammy, or just plain fake, and they introduce security risks for Twitter and all of our users. These types of accounts are against our Twitter Rule,” twitter stated on its page.

“If your account has been suspended, you will need to appeal the suspension to gain access to your account. You cannot delete the profile at this point. A suspended account does not time out, unlike deactivated accounts, which are purged forever after 30 days.”

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that suspension of a person’s account can last between 24 hours and full account deletion. When an account is suspended, the owner will need to contact Twitter support, explain the problem clearly, provide a short explanation on why the account was suspended.
