BlackBox Nigeria reports that what started as a mere back and forth between a custom officer and a passenger at the Benin Expressway has resulted to the ‘trigger happy’ custom officer shooting the passenger dead.
Information has it that the tragic scenario which occurred few hours ago on the expressway was triggered by the passenger who was identified as a returnee from overseas who denied to pay the sum of ₦5,000 as bribe to the custom officer who accosted him.
BlackBox Nigeria further gathered that the denial by the passenger led to an argument between the two which attracted the attention of other passengers who tried to intervene but before they could douse the tension, the custom officer already shot the passenger right in the head.
According to a video made available by an eye-witness on social media immediately after the deed was done, the custom officer attempted to flee the scene but was restricted by the angry onlookers who resulted to violence thereby, physically attacking the entire custom team at the scene.
In the voice of an eyewitness as captured by the video clip, the victim now lying lifeless on his own pool of blood was just returning from the overseas when the tragic scenario happened.
According to the post by the eyewitness which is currently making the rounds on social media, he regarded the scenario as the height of criminality and urged the authorities to immediately arrive the scene to arrest the custom officer.
