Breaking: Former BlackBox Nigeria, TVC Journalist, Damilola Oduolowu resigns, joins BBC

One of the early producers of Television Continental (TVC)’s premium breakfast show ‘Wake Up Nigeria’ has resigned to join British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

In an exclusive chat with BlackBox Nigeria, Damilola said he is joining BBC Africa division in the Lagos office as a Broadcast Journalist.

Until leaving TVC, Damilola was best known for his unique storytelling style that gives life to human angle stories. To his record, he also produced programmes such as ‘Inside Lagos, Nasarawa Focus and Kano Spotlight’ for the media outfit based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Damilola a graduate of broadcasting, Mass Communication from the Lagos State University School of Communication with Masters degree in the same field from the University of Lagos, has special flair for documentaries.

He has produced reports and documentaries for state governments in Nigeria amongst which are Lagos, Nasarawa and Kano.

The multitalented Journalist who has created a niche for himself in the modern media industry, started out as Campus Journalist with BlackBox Campus News Magazine in 2010 when he was in 100 level in LASU.

Speaking on how he got the employment, Damilola said he applied more than once, “First applied as a reporter last year and was called April this year. I passed all the stages of interview but wasn’t called or gotten back to which was rare of the BBC. And later I applied for Broadcast Journalist role. And I went through interview process and was called.”

Sharing his thought on Facebook, Damilola averred that the 5 years he spent with TVC was a great experience for him and joining the BBC will be journalism on a different level.

“Today, I join TVC Alumni the world over as I bow out of the station. 5 years with the prestigious station was indeed a great experience. It’s time to move on! I’ll miss my production teams. Now, let the journalism continue on a different level!”

Damilola Oduolowu who in the past had been a radio OAP, is also a voiceover artist and a diction coach.
