Unknown thugs seen battling with the Mace

Moments ago, BlackBox Nigeria reported the snatching of the Mace of authority of the Nigerian Senate after some thugs invaded the red chambers.

  • Unknown men numbering about six invaded the Senate Chambers. Two went for the Mace and seized it while the upper legislative chamber was in session.
  • While Senate President, Bukola Saraki was not present during the attack, the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was the one presiding during the session. 
  • Suspended Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege was earlier seen in the Assembly complex before the attack. He is now being fingered as the mastermind of the act. Senate authorities have also confirmed this.

  • Legislative aides around the assembly complex could have interfered but many told BBN correspondent on ground that many aides are not sympathetic to Saraki’s plight because of his high handedness.

  • The stolen Mace was taken out through the Villa gate with side talks that Senators loyal to President Buhari are involved.
  • The Mace was taken out of the complex in a black Prado Jeep with ‘police escort’.

  • The attempted act of “terror” might not be unconnected to the move by the Senate authorities to reorder the upcoming elections.
  • The Senate and the House of Representatives have met in a joint close door session to discuss the event.
  • An alternative mace or perhaps a “spare mace” was brought in for the joint meeting.
  • Kogi Senator, Dino Melaye was seen in the House of Representatives chamber in a bid to borrow the Mace of the lower legislative for a quick session of the Senate. 
  • Murmurs, rumours and side talks flying around the assembly complex has it that there is a move to impeach Senate President, Bukola Saraki and this move has the backing of the presidency.
