Lagos State Announce Traffic Diversion Over French President’s Visit

 

The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion targeted at easing the movement of French President, Emmanuel Macron in Ikeja, the capital city of the State.

The traffic diversion was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Transportation, Dr Taiwo Salaam. He explained that the diversion and restriction of movement in some areas of Ikeja was needed to ease the hosting of President Macron.

Dr Salaam disclosed that the restrictions will be between 12noon till 12 midnight on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 as he apologised to those that will be affected by the diversion. He advised that the alternative routes be used for that day.

He said, “While we regret the inconvenience that this might cause the public, especially those who live and work in the area, we appeal that you kindly bear with us during this period and make use of the alternative routes provided.”

Sources who have knowledge about the French President’s itinerary disclosed that President Macron will touch down Abuja on Tuesday, hold a quick meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and head for Lagos same day.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is said to be expected to receive the European leader and host him at the popular New Afrika Shrine located in Alausa area of the State. After the hosting at the Shrine, President Macron is billed to commission a magnificent building belonging to Alliance Francais in Ikoyi area of Lagos.
