News making the rounds from the ancient city of Ibadan has it that the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Isiaka Ajimobi might be plotting to depose the city’s traditional ruler, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

BlackBox Nigeria learnt that the alleged sacking of the Oba is not unconnected to the ongoing battle over the installation of new kings in Ibadan by the Governor who is also an indigene of the city. While the matter has generated a lot of controversy and bad blood between the state government and the crown, it has also become a legal matter with all parties dragging themselves to court.

Reacting to the allegation of the plan to remove the monarch, a youth organization, the Integrity Youths of Ibadanlan has called on President Buhari to wade into the matter and call on Governor Ajimobi to sheath his sword.

The youths opine that the threat for the Governor to the Olubadan was a disrespect to the sacred throne he occupies stating that the Olubadan didn’t break any law to warrant being threatened.

“We consider the threat a height of insult anyone could pass on His Imperial Majesty. Olubadan, as he has not violated any law of the land that could warrant being threatened by the government. “We, therefore, use this opportunity to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to call Governor Ajimobi to order so that the peace we have been enjoying in the city will not be breached.”
