Youths threaten to disrupt Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Zambia

Nigeria’s Super Eagles all set for Zambia

As Nigeria prepares to face the Chipolopolo of Zambia this Saturday in a World Cup qualifiers which might see the Super Eagles cruise into their 6th appearance at the competition, the match is now being threatened by aggrieved individuals.

Youths numbering over 200 have threatened to disrupt the match following complaints that the Akwa-Ibom government has breached an agreement it had with them.
The youths who are from Obio Etoi and Obio Ofot communities which host the Akwa-Ibom International Stadium, venue of the match yesterday protested what they described as the underdevelopment of their localties despite hosting the best stadium in the country. They lamented that a large chunk of the youths are still unemployed despite having such a beautiful edifice in their area.
Carrying various placards, some of the inscriptions had, “the stadium is beautiful but the communities are suffering”.
While the government is yet to issue an official statement, it remains unknown what the eventual decision of the nigerian Football Federation would be.
