Lasu Agog As Choice Awards Debuts
Lagos State University was thrown into a frenzied mood on Thursday, September 1st, 2016 as the first ever Lasu Choice Awards went down.
The event was tagged as one of the most anticipated event in Lagos State University in the year 2016. The event which was slated to kick start by 12PM experienced a late take off and the programme started proper at 3:20PM.
Some invited guests, the likes of Mr Deji Bakare (Mr Nigeria 2011), Ndunaga Gift (Miss LASU 2016), Yetunde Olasimbo (MBGLASU 2015), music promoter, Taoreed Olasunkanmi Quadri, CEO of Kogbagidi Entertainment, distinguished staff of the institution and many more distinguished guests graced the event.
He appreciated the initiatives of the event, students of the institution and the university management for bringing forth the award ceremony.
He further said, “We are projecting the image of our institution”, he said. He concluded by urging the organizers not to relent, in his words, “We want more of this”, he said.
The down side of the event was first registered at the entrance of the venue as the security officials restricted food and drinks into the main auditorium.
The action generated negative reaction from the audience. BlackBox Nigeria was unable to find out the reasons behind the motive, as the security officials only stated that was the rules on ground.
The hosts of the event, Damilola Oduolowu and Chinenye Lilaim – both graduate of Broadcasting from the institution’s School of Communication, gave in their best to make the event a successful one. The mood of the audience was moved by their comic relief which was imbibed where necessary.
The event was also thrown in funfair when the winner of the award for the Best Non Teaching staff, Mrs Bunmi was presented her Award coincidentally by her husband, Mr Lewis Akinwunmi, the school’s Registrar.
The ceremony witnessed huge turn up, ranging from the students, to staff, both academic and non academic, the operators of various talk-shops in the school and others in the university community.
