“Eko Atlantic City Will Boost Lagos IGR” – Governor Ambode

By  |

Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has demonstrated the state government’s commitment to the EKO Atlantic City project by visiting the  new peninsula. He affirmed that the Eko Atlantic city will have a positive environmental impact when completed, by effectively stopping the erosion of the Lagos coastline.

The governor says the project would have a multiplier effect on Lagos’ internally generated revenue.

Ronald Chagoury, the chairman of the project, says the city is safe from ocean surge, protected by 8.5km long sea walls that can last  for a thousand years.

Commissioner for Water Front, Ade Akinsanya says out of the 10 million square metres, 6.3 square metres of land had been reclaimed from the ocean.

The project is in 6 phases.  Phase one and two have been completed with 15 bridges and two tunnels. The first two high rise buildings have also been completed.

The 42nd president of  the United states, Bill Clinton, former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, former Lagos governors, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola were among those who attended the historic inauguration of the Eko Atlantic city project in February 2013.
